Surgical instruments 'left inside' patients

Sourse: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/scotland/10194990.stm

Summary:
Patient's organs are punctured accidently in the operating room. In the past few years, Scotland's largest health board, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, said six patients left the hospital with swaps inside their bodies. From the total of objects left in their bodies, three people became unwell as result. They surgeons claim that all swaps and instruments are counted in and out during the operation and are recorded on a wall board. These incidents are reported within the organization and are an undergoing investigation. This patient that was involved with this incident received an apology from the hospital. Eight accidents occurred between the January 2008 and February 2010 in which objects were left in patient's bodies. These objects were: bone-drill fragments, fragments of tubing, needles and swabs. The details were released after a Freedom of Information request to all 14 health boards in Scotland by the Press Association.

Evaluation:
Cases like these are heard before all over the world during operating procedures. It is a horrible procedure or experience a hospital can go through. Operating object is left behind in patient’s bodies. This hospital had an incident not once but eight times which put patient’s lives in danger even after surgery. As a routine, these operating objects should be counted before and after the procedure. In a patient mind, they expect a surgeon to be saving lifes in the operating room when the patient is under under the anaesthetic. The patients expect to wake up healthy and happy that the procedure is over and to continue with their lives as a healthy person. My opinion is that the patients should sue the hospital because these are stupid mistakes that surgeons and his/her staff are capable of not doing. In a hospital you can not do mistakes like these. Further more, no patient should have to endure another operation or have their life put at risk because the pre and post checks are not rigorously carried out.

1 opmerking:

  1. Careful with the different between "patience" and "patients", the first is an adjective and the second is the noun. You also need to be careful with possessives. It is "Scotland's" larges healthy board - belonging to Scotland. If they are organs belonging to one patient they are the "patient's organs", but if lots of patients have had organs punctured then it's "patients' organs" with the apostrophy after the s. The became unwell "as A result". "They surgeons" and "This patience" are mistakes you and a grammar checker should pick up on. There are also a number of grammar tense errors that need looking at:

    - "receives an apology"
    - "are heard before"
    - "can go do"
    - "had this incident"
    - "expect to be saving at all times"

Other errors that should be corrected are:
    - "operating them on them under the anaesthetic"
    - "your hands depends on that patient life"

Finally - you use "On the other hand" to indicate a change of opinion, but in your article you use it but continue along the same time of reasoning. You should therefore use a different linker such as "furthermore" etc.
